David Villa scored the winning goal in today’s match against Paraguay, making him the top scorer in the world cup AND taking Spain farther than it has been “in the modern era”
My sister puts it best:
The night he comes back to Spain, he will cause at least eight pregnancies.
LOOK AT THIS ADORABLE PICTURE OF THIS DEER.
The saddest thing ever is that he died less than a day after that picture was taken. RIP RUPERT.
Sadly, it was March 24th.
But alas, as we are all dealing with stress/graduation issues/bad days/rain/republicans, I think we all need some cheering up. So in honor of the missed holiday, I am now going to present to you the 10 cutest pictures of puppies I can find on the internet. Here goes:

AAAAAAW THEY’RE RUNNING THAT’S SO ADORABLEEEE!!!!!! Look at that one puppy’s ears!!!!

The starting line-up from the PUPPY BOWL, the cutest thing ever on Earth.

Once again, puppies from the puppy bowl, but this time with my ONE TRUE LOVE. PUPPY FOWL!

Since I’ve already used a small puppy/big dog in this tumblr, if you LOVE ME and are PAYING ATTENTION to what I write you should guess that I LOVE THIS COMBO. It breaks my heart and heals it at the same time, while wagging its tail and looking at me with loving eyes of love.

This puppy is BADASS. It doesn’t care about what you or the MAN thinks.

PUPPY PEDESTALS

CORGI HEAVEN

What makes this pic even better? That may be an Obama-Biden poster in the background. CHANGE IS ADORABLE.

Bark softly and carry a big stick.
AND FINALLY…….

The Puppy picture that Started It All (this post). Jake Gyllenhaal AND an adorable puppy? ULTIMATE LOVE.
So, Happy Friday and Puppies!

a) CORGIS!!!
b) The Onion’s opinion columns literally always make me burst out into laughter. They have saved my life on three separate occasions. This one is particularly good. Plus, his last name is Grossman (holla David)

I was gonna do a witty post about being stuck inside/snowgasm/snowmageddon/death, but all I really want to share is this. The best post ever that was born out of this weather.

I particularly like/am terrified by number 18. enjoy.

For two decades, the GLAAD Media Awards have recognized some members of the media for “their fair, accuarate, and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trandgender community and the issues that affect their lives.” Since high school when I threw myself into the lovely world of the LGBT community and all of the glitz and glam that goes with that (and having everyone call me a lesbian), I’ve followed the GLAAD media awards with special anticipation. Think of all the amazing men and women who are bravely putting their careers at risk in order to present a fair representation of queers in the media! All of the execs at the big broadcasting channels that will take a risk to strike down discrimination! All of the Progress!
But every year, as I read the nominations, I just get kinda sad. This is the best we can do? I thought the media was supposed to be avant-garde, shocking, and liberal! However, the characters and shows represented in these nominations seem to be a little forced and, frankly, lame. I’ve never even heard of most of them, and I read gossip blogs like it’s my job. There are so fewgay characters in the media that I feel like GLAAD just picked the one that were the least offensive or the most popular rather than characters that actually represent the glbt community fairly, accurately, and inclusively.
I don’t mean to undermine the work that GLAAD is doing in the slightest- their organization has done an immense amount of good and their work has helped gay characters get represented at all in the media. I also really like the awards show and think it’s a good idea. I just think they don’t have much to choose from.
So, for your and my entertainment, I have judged the contenders for the awards below in only the way a bisexual college student who hasn’t seen 75 percent of these shows can:
Outstanding Film - Wide Release
-Everybody’s Fine
-I Love You, Man
-SKG Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire
-A Single Man
-Taking Woodstock
This is depressing. What happened to the wave of amazing movies about gay life and characters that my idealistiv mind dreamed up of after “Brokeback”?
“Everybody’s Fine”- apparently, Drew Barrymore is a lesbian (that’s what google told me) in this movie. Token gay character. Big surprise. Wasn’t this movie a flop? Plus, nowadays anything Robert deNiro is in is pretty much guaranteed to not have much substance. It’s also a “Family holidays” movie. Ugh.
“I Love You, Man”. Okay, Andy Samberg’s character wasn’t very stereotypical, but he was in the movie for like 3 seconds. This movie was funny, but it seemed like the gay character was just thrown in there to assure people that the movie wasn’t gonna be homophobic. There’s a difference between advancing the gay image in the media and not being homophobic. But the movie was still pretty hilarious, so I guess points for that.
I don’t know much about the rest of the movies (except wiki-ing “Precious” one time), but I’m surprised that there aren’t even five movies that GLAAD could find in wide release with queers as the main character. This is sad.

Outstanding Film - Limited Release
-Casi Divas
-The Country Teacher
-Little Ashes
-Phoebe in Wonderland
-The Secrets
I’ve never even heard of any of these except for (hahahaha) “Little Ashes”, a film which managed to offend me without me even seeing it by letting Robert Pattinson play Dali. So wrong. Also, I’m pretty sure it had a wrong fact about the Spanish Civil War in the trailer. Plus, if you’re gonna put R Pats in a movie, he’d better be covered in glitter.
Outstanding Comedy Series
-Beautiful People
-Glee
-GREEK
-Modern Family
-United States of Tara
I read somewhere that “United States of Tara” is doing a good job of representing its LGBT character- maybe I’ll watch it sometime. “Modern Family” is supposed to be good, but from the trailers I’ve seen the men are just too stereotypical for my taste. Everyone knows I love “Glee”. And Kurt is one of my favorite characters ever. But come ON, he put on a leotard and did the entire dance to “Single Ladies”! They’ve given him some nice depth with coming out and him being bullied and all that jazz, but he’s hopelessly in love with a straight male. Apparently, he’s gonna get some male action in the second season, but until he does, he’s just another desexualized stereotypical character put there to get some laughs and have ridiculous outfits.

Outstanding Individual Episode in a series without a regular LGBT character -“Homeward Bound” Private Practice
-“Lisa Says” The Listener
-“Pawnee Zoo” Parks and Recreation
-“The Real Ghostbusters” Supernatural
-“Wait and See” Private Practice
I’d just like to point out how ridiculous this category is. What? You have to honor a show without a regular LGBT character? Sliiiim pickings.
Outstanding Reality Program
-The Amazing Race 15
-Kathy Griffin: MY Life on the D-List
-Making His Band
-The Real World: Brooklyn
-RuPaul’s Drag Race
Nothing against this except for the fact that “the Real World” should never be honored ever ever ever ever ever.
Outstanding Music Artist
-Brandi Carlile: Give Up the Ghost
-Lady Gaga: The Fame Monster
-Gossip Music: for Men
-Adam Lambert: For Your Entertainment
-Otep Smash: the Control Machine
Anyone who knows anything about me at all (or looks down to the first pic I’ve posted on here) will know that I am completely in love with Adam Lambert and want him to have my glittery babies. Obvs want him to win this and think he should- he’s done a great job of sexualizing gay culture, and doing so unapologetically. Even if he is a “glittery alien from the planet Fierce.” But except for him and obvs Gaga (who has made herself a clear straight ally, so I won’t rag on her for not being gay), I haven’t heard of these other artists. Hey music industry: get some more out artists. Only person who is gay and actually known on this list is Lambert, and that’s only because of American Idol.

Outstanding TV Journalism
-Newsmagazine “40th Anniversary of Stonewall” In the Life (PBS)
-“Angie Zapata Murder Trial” InSession (truTV)
-“Bullied to Death?” Anderson Cooper 360 (CNN)
-“Gay Killings in Iraq” CNN Newsroom (CNN)
-“Uganda Be Kidding Me” (series) The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC)
I really like this category, actually. Just had to point out: “UGANDA BE KIDDING ME?” This is the worst pun ever- especially since in Uganda they are proposing a bill to punish being gay with THE DEATH PENALTY, so I don’t really think it’s the right time to use that pun. I love it, though.
Outstanding Newspaper Article
-“Binational, Same-Sex Couples Face Immigration Problems” by Mike Swift (San Jose Mercury News)
-“Kept From a Dying Partner’s Bedside” by Tara Parker-Pope (The New York Times) -“Militias Target Some Iraqis for Being Gay” by Paul Wiseman and Nadeem Majeed (USA Today)
-“Minister Kept Secret for 27 Years” by Christine McFadden (The Portland Tribune [Portland, Ore.])
-“Transgender Vets a Hidden Population” by Carol Ann Alaimo (Arizona Daily Star [Tucson, Ariz.])
Also love this category and think it’s important. Yay!
Outstanding New York Theater: Off-Off Broadway
-Abraham Lincoln’s Big Gay Dance Party by Aaron Loeb
-Devil Boys From Beyond by Buddy Thomas
-The Lily’s Revenge by Taylor Mac
-She Like Girls by Chisa Hutchinson Wickets created and conceived by Clove Galilee and Jenny Rogers, adapted from Fefu and Her Friends by Maria Irene Fornes
And the best category to end on: The nominee “Abraham Linconl’s Big Gay Dance Party”
So what do you all (the 2 of you that may read this) think? I think this is pretty lame. The media has got to step up its game in representing glbt characters. And it doesn’t seem to be getting better anytime soon. So my response to this: GLAAD nominations? UGANDA BE KIDDING ME!!
